Professional Development Policy

The Board of Management of Moyle Park College is committed to the professional development of all Staff.  The promotion of this policy will ensure that individual teachers/members of Staff will be aware of the opportunities open to them and will be able to take the initiative in defining their own needs.

Staff development may entail the following;

·      Induction of New Staff

·      Subject Department – networking with colleagues

·      Staff Seminars Days

·      School Development Planning

·      Department of Education and Science In- service Days

·      Subject Associations/Professional Bodies/Community Organisations

·      Higher Education/Post Graduate/Education Centre Courses

·      On-line Courses

Staff development, which focuses both on the needs of the school and the needs of the Staff, will benefit the whole school.  If the training is for the development of Staff working on agreed aims and objectives, the outcomes are put to immediate use and for the benefit of the whole school.  Staff who take part in outside school courses have a means of sharing the new skills and knowledge with other members of Staff if there is a unified approach to Staff development.
