Pitch And Putt: 2008/2009
Leinster Schools' Competition
On Wednesday 15th October, in Portmarnock, the Leinster Schools' Competition took place. About twenty schools took part. Ryan O'Reilly, Wayne Coffey and Sean Whelan made up the Moyle Park team.
Ryan O'Reilly was the first to tee off. After a few bad holes at the start, he recovered well later on. Wayne Coffey started well as did Sean Whelan but took bogeys later on and did not recover. Wayne gave the spectators something to cheer about at the end when he chipped in from well off the green for a birdie 2.
As a team I thought we would have had a good chance, especially when it was supposed to be in CPM, our home course. We finished about mid table, which was o.k. Kilbeggan and Tullamore battled it out for the cup in a three-hole play off with Tullamore winning it.

Pitch And Putt: 2007/2008
Leinster Schools' Final : 2007/2008
September 27th: there was a school qualifying day held in the C.P.M. course. Two teams from Moyle Park qualified.
It was a fun day and everyone had a great time regardless of the scores. Darren O'Reilly had preapred the course and it was in great condition for the day. He and his wife provided food and drink during the day, also for the players. The scores were not spectacular but Derek Coffey recordred the best score at 4-under-par for the day.
October 15th: The final of the Leinster school event competition took place on Wednesday the 15th of October in the Royal Meath pitch and putt course. It had a great variety of schools from all over Leinster taking part in the day's event.
Moyle Parks teams were: Aaron Cudihy, Ryan O'Reilly , Derek Coffey, Mark Heneghan and Andrew McDonagh. The day started off with Mr. O'Reilly driving the small coach under a barrier which the coach exceeded the height of considirabley and as a result he broke the steel bar and it swung open attracting everyone's attention our way. Everyone knew Moyle Park had arrived then.
We found out that we were not due to tee off until between 1.30 p m and 1.52 p m so we had a while to wait since we arrived there at 11.00 a m. We went to a garage across the road for breakfast and just talked of the day to come.
When we were called to tee off we were very excited because the course was in immaculate condition for play. Aaron was first to tee off recording a par 3 at the 1st hole, Derek was 2nd with a birdie 2 and Andrew and Mark 3rd both recording a 5 each or 2 over par. As the round progressed we soon realised the difficulty of the course and we tried to hold onto some kind of score to give us a chance at retaining the cup once more but our efforts went without reward as the trophy passed hands this year, unfortunately.
Never the less we all had a great fun day playing a game we all love and we were happy with that , And there's always next year . .

Pitch And Putt: 2006/2007
Leinster Schools' Final : 2006/2007
Congratulations are in order, yet again, for Moyle Park's successful Pitch and Putt team consisting of captain Fred McMahon, Gerard Fitzpatrick and Aaron Cuddihy. The finals of the Jim Finglas Leinster Schools competition took place on the 18th of October at Seapoint in Termonfeckin, Co. Louth. The same team representing Moyle Park won its title last year at McDonagh (see below) and they have now successfully defended their title and proved themselves the best team in Leinster.
The competition teed off at 1:30 pm and first out was Gerard Fitzpatrick. For his first 18 holes he carded an 8 under par 46. He would go on to score 5 under par for his next 18, bringing his 36 holes total to a 13 under par 95. Next out was the captain, Fred McMahon, who returned home a flawless round of the day 9 under par 45 for his first 18 holes. For his 2nd 18 holes he returned again another impressive round of 8 under par 46 bringing his 36 hole total to a whopping 17 under par 91. Aaron Cuddihy would struggle with an opening round of level par 54 but he would fight back with a 4 under par 50 making his score a 4 under par 104. The combined score of the 3 lads would be 34 under par, eleven shots clear of the clubhouse leaders, St Joseph's of Drogheda, who came in 23 under par.
Moyle Park now has a reputation for winning this title and it will now be up to Aaron Cuddihy and other school students to come along next year and regain the title for the third time as 6th year students Fred and Gerard will be leaving in June.
Congratulations, once again, to the team and a special word of thanks to Mr O'Reilly for the time and effort he put into bringing the Moyle park team to Seapoint.
Further information on the competition can be read on the Pitch and Putt Union of Ireland web site.

Preliminary Rounds: 2006/2007
The qualifying rounds for the Leinster Schools' Pitch and Putt Competition took place on the 20th September. Moyle Park, the holders, had four team entries this year including the winning team of last year consisting of Fred McMahon, Gerard Fitzpatrick and Aaron Cuddihy. There was also a team entry from Lucan Community College.
There was a strong breeze and an odd shower during play but that did not stop last year's winning team shooting a great score of -25. Gerard Fitzpatrick shot -9; Aaron Cuddihy shot -6 and Fred McMahon scored -10. The other qualifiers were from Lucan Community College with a total score of +5.
The Moyle Park team has a great chance of retaining the title. The finals take place in October in Seapoint in County Louth. Good luck to all the competitors.
