Moyle Park College
Moyle Park College is a Voluntary Catholic Secondary School for boys. It was established in 1957 and serves Clondalkin and surrounding areas. In 2007 the school celebrated its Golden Jubilee and was honoured with a visit from the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese. (See our Photo Gallery and our Golden Jubilee page.)
It provides a Catholic education, with a wide range of subjects and programmes. The College has a very experienced teaching staff and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. It is situated on an extensive educational campus with extensive sporting facilities. The Marist Brothers community is at the heart of the campus. The College motto is Respice Finem which conveys the School's philosophy of setting objectives and ideals and working towards them. We expect each student to strive to achieve his full potential as a person, academically, physically, morally, socially and spiritually.
The College is administered by a Board of Management under the trusteeship of the Marist Brothers

The Philosophy of Moyle Park College
This college, in partnership with the families of its students, aims to build on the initial formative influence of the family, in the lifelong process of Christian education. In 1817, belief in the importance of Catholic Education inspired Saint Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist brothers. Today that same belief urges us to affirm the Catholic school as a nurturing environment where the good news of Jesus should be toldand where faith, life and the call to justice can be recognised, reconciled and lived.
Aware of the challenge of the future and believing in the eternal destiny of each of its members, Moyle Park College wishes to draw on the insights of the past and the resources of the present to help its students acquire knowledge and wisdom and to grow in faith and integrity. As education is an endeavour which must consantly renew itself, the trustees, together with the students, parents and staff of Moyle Park College must constantly reflect on the needs of all those who form this community. From these reflections will emerge an ongoing adaption and reformulation of this statement of values and aims upon which the educational enterprise at Moyle Park is based.

"I just think it is so important, on a day like this,
that we say to the Marists and, indeed,
to all of those who have given Ireland
this wonderful gift of education,
that wonderful gift of revealing who we are,
what we are
and helping our country to flourish,
that we say to them, thank you for a job well done.
Fifty years here.
A job well done."

The Marist Brothers
The Marist Brothers are an Order of teaching brothers founded in 1817 by St. Marcellin Champagnat. He dedicated his life to the education of Catholic children in Catholic Schools.
The Marist Brothers today are one of the largest teaching orders in the world. The Brothers see the Catholic School as a place where students acquire knowledge and wisdom and to grow in faith and integrity, in an atmosphere inspired by the good news of Jesus in the Gospel.
For more information on the Marist ethos of the school, visit our Marist Education page.
In paying tribute to the Marist Brothers
here in Moyle Park, in paying tribute
to forty years of excellence,
to forty years of outstanding education,
to forty years of developing the young men
of Clondalkin, I want to say,
well done.

Social Context
Clondalkin is situated in an area which has undergone enormous social change in the last number of decades. This ensures that a wide social mix of students attends the College.
The College is especially mindful of the extent of social and educational disadvantage in the area, and ensures that the programmes and subjects offered enable all students in the area to achieve their potential.
Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care System is organised around 6 year groups. Each group has a Year Head. Every class in the year has a Form Teacher who takes a special interest in each of the pupils and meets them at daily tutorial. Progress is monitored and contact made with parents when deemed necessary.
Classes are organised on a mixed-ability basis, with banding arrangements in Maths, English and Irish.
It is an honour and privilege for me,
the first lay Principal of Moyle Park College,
to pay tribute to the Marist Brothers
for their dedication and commitment
to the education of our students
over the past fifty years."
John Shortt (Former School Principal)
Curriculum
A full range of subjects and programmes is provided, including Junior Certificate, Junior Certificate Schools Programme, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate Established, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. Information on subjects being taught and facilities within the school is available in the School Brochure.
Extra-curricular Activities
Extra-curricular activities play an important role in the life of the college. We have had great success on the field of play and recently celebrated all-Ireland success in basketball. We also have a strong musical tradition in the school as exemplified in the outstanding success of our school musicals. Recent advances in the provision of computer facilities for our students will help prepare them for a world of work, information and entertainment. In an age when leisure time is going to increase dramatically, any help we can give young people learning some skills will prove to be most beneficial.
