6th Year LCA host 1st Year Volleyball Tournament

On Friday 11th of December the 6th year LCA hosted a volleyball tournament in the Sports Hall for the 1st years. Every 1st year participated in the Volleyball Tournament.

The students were split into 19 teams playing on 6 courts. Two teams from each court went through to the next round and the winers went through to the finals. The winners got 6 trophies, one for each team member. The tournament was organised by the 6th year LCA class in conjunction with Mr O'Reilly, the Active Leisure Studies teacher.

Volleyball 2007-2008

6th Year LCA Host 1st Year Volleyball Tournament

On Monday 3rd of December the 6th year LCA hosted a volleyball tournament in the Sports Hall for the 1st years. Every 1st year participated in the J.J. 4 Volleyball Tournament in memory of Jason Kelly, a first year student who died recently.

The students were split into 19 teams playing on 6 courts. Two teams from each court went through to the next round and the winers went through to the finals. One of the teams from J.J's class, 1.2, succeeded in winning the competition. The winners got 6 trophies, one for each team member.

The tournament was organised by the 6th year LCA class in conjunction with Mr O'Byrne, the Active Leisure Studies teacher.

A plaque was presented by school principal, Mr John Shortt, to Gary Kelly, J.J.'s brother, from the 6th year LCA students.

LCA in Loughrea

The 6th year LCA Volleyball team travelled to Loughrea in County Galway to participate in the all-Ireland semi-final of the schools's volleyball cup on Monday November 26th. It was a three hour trip from Dublin to Galway undertaken in the school mini-bus.

There were three teams playing in these semi-finals.As well as Moyle Park, there were teams from Loughrea and Leitrim. Moyle Park played both teams and were beaten in both games by a narrow margin. The tournament took place in a local hall beside the lake. The team from Leitrim qualified for the finals which will be held in December.

Mark Hanna: The day epitomises the classes improvement in volleyball over the past few months.

James Kernan: We participated well.

Anthony Boggans: It was a great experience and a laugh.

Grant Fleming: Change the gears on the mini-bus

Aaron Russell: The ref was a babe.

Karl Marshall: We were the first team from Moyle Park to enter a volleyball competition.

Stephen Fitzpatrick: Waste of time.

James Kelly: It was all right.
