November Showcase
Jamie Quirke 5th Year
I started playing soccer when I was seven years old. My first team was
AFC Belgrave from Bluebell. I started off playing as a forward but went in goal
when our keeper didn't come to one of the matches. I played well and I stayed
in goal. I played with Belgrave for 5 years and I was then asked to sign for
St. Francis. I played for them for fours years and I then joined St. Patricks Athlethic
at the start of this season.I came to Moyle Park College 2005. I joined the first year soccer team and
played in goal. I was on the under-14 Gaelic team also. I also joined the first
year basketball team run by Ms. Cahalane. We came runners-up in the Dublin
final and, as a result, we qualified for the All-Ireland in Limerick. We came
seventh in the competition as the opposition was too strong. In second year
we didn't have the success we had the year before as we lost our most
influentual player, Ovidious, as he was too old for the team. I am now captain
for the school under-16 soccer team.I joined St Pats because I wanted to play in a higher league and they were the
closest team to where I live. They play their games in Drimnagh. We train
every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Community Centre in Ballyfermot
and play their games every Sunday. We have played 5 games in the Dublin and
District Schoolboy league and are currently second. We are also in the third
round of the all-Ireland under-15s Evans Cup.When I am older I would like to turn professional for a team in England or Ireland.
I support Liverpool but I would grab the chance to play for anyone in the Premier
League.
