March Showcase

Fame is a musical about teenagers in a school called The High School
Of The Performing Arts. (P.A.). The story line to the show is a bunch of kids
are growing up in the Bronx learning all about the joys and difficulties of life.
The main students are: Nick played by Graham Hanlon, Schlomo played by
John Kearns, Joe played By myself, Tyrone played by Merveil, Goodman
played By Chris Reid, Serena played By Emma Ring, Carmen played By
Ciana Croker, Lambchops played By Lauren Taaffe, Iris played By Anastasia
and, last but not least, Mabel played By Gina Taft. These students are part of
P.A and learning all about the performing arts. Each part was played so well
and I just want to say "Well Done!" to all of them.Joe Vegas is considered as the cocky Spanish fella. He is chasing the one
girl all through the first two years even though she has no interest in Joe
whatsoever. He is not afraid to speak his mind about anything and
everything he says and does just comes naturally to him. He calms down
in his last two years, except for prom night when he gets a little over excited.
The first song that he sings was originally called, "Can't Keep It Down"
but we had to change that to the rated version, "Can't Keep It Cool."
It's about the girl he likes, so that's why we had to change that. But overall
I will NEVER forget playing the part of Joe Vegas. Iit was an unforgetable
experience. When I heard of Fame I wanted to audition. When the lads went up for the
singing auditions everyone was very nervous. I went in and did my best and
because of this I got a call back. When we did the acting audition it was a
great laugh. I remember the first lines I read out in front of everyone and
they were, "Yo My Little Jalepeno Pepper, How Bout We Go Dancin
Saturday Night." And it turned out that I actually got to say that line in front
of the audience. I got the part of Joe Vegas and I was delighted. With
6 months of rehersals, muscle aches, sore throats and our stomachs hurting
with the laughter, it was tough but it all paid off in the end. On the first night
everyone was very nervous and the buzz everyone got after nailing the whole
show was UNREAL! On the second night our nerves kind of calmed down
a bit and we got it better than the night before. But the third night was just
immense. The buzz after doing Fame was unreal and I would love to keep
doing something like it. Fame was the best fun I have had while being in
school and I am glad I got the opportunity to take part in it.I am going to keep doing acting and dancing as I love doing it. I am looking
for some sort of orginisation or club to keep doing it. I really want to be an
actor when I am older so I am going to take an acting course at the age of
21. I was talking to my mother's friend and her son owns a stage school
and recommended that I should take this course in a few years. The reason
I want to be an actor is because I love it so much and I really feel comfortable
in front of a camera almost like I can do anything. My two real inspirations
in the acting business are Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler. These are two
acting ledgends and they are hilarious to watch. My favourite film from
Will Ferrell is Step Brothers and my favourite film from Adam Sandler has
to be Happy Gilmore. These two films are hilarious and remind me of how
much I would love to be in films like these.I would just like to say a huge thank you to Dougie, Dee, Ms. Dooley,
Mr. Houlihan and Ms. Hogan. None of this would be possible without these
people and I am so glad that I got the chance to work with them. This is the
best thing to do while you are in school. It's a great confidence builder and a
great way of meeting new people. I would recommend it to all future students
of Moyler and Colaiste Bride. And I just hope that the two schools continue
to keep doing them. I have also made a lot of new friends from
Fame and we are all going to stay friends forever. I will always remember the
name FAME. Don Look At Me, John. Ha! Ha! Ha!
