December Showcase

Cliff John 6th Year

It was like a joke to me. It was my younger brother and my cousin and I. We were all
in my room thinking about what the future was going to bring. We slotted in the cd
that had an instrnmental on it. So we started freestyling. We were not that perfect
but we didn't give up. After a couple of hours of freestyling we came to a conclusion.
My cousin said, "Why don't we just write a song?" I was a bit not-up with it. My
brother said, "O.K." So we began. But at this time it was 2 a m in the morning.
So I said, "Let's pray." So we did. In less than two hours, we wrote a song called
"Prayer." That was our first song.

As we move on and on, we brought out a demo. It has five tracks on it. So we sold
it to many people both old and young. They all loved it. An Irish girl said to us that
she wanted to join our band. We asked her what she had to offer
. She said that
she could sing and play the keyboards. We asked her to sing. So then she sang
a lovely song. She told us that her school wanted us to come and perform. We
said we would. We went and got to the school. There was no microphone cable.
So we had to perform without the microphone. One week later, we got a call from
a girl saying we should come to her school. That was how we started going from
place to place with our music.

We only do Gospel songs. On Friday November 30th we appeared in a competition
in Wexford Street for Gospel singing and Gospel artists. We sang "Prayer", our
first ever song. We got through to the third round of the competition. The show
finished at 10 p.m. From there we went down the country to perform at a birthday
party. We finished singing at two in the morning. We went on to Waterford where we
rested after all our singing. On that Saturday we performed in Waterford and also on
Sunday in a local church there. We took the bus back to Dublin. On our way back we
got a call from one man who asked us to perform in a charity gig. So that weekend
was a great success for us and for our singing.

My ambition is to have my own clothes and shoes and my own company. When
I say company, I mean to have the biggest music production company anywhere
in the world. I would love to work with musicians. My dreams are too big for me
to hold, so I need to start exploiting them.

I thank God for the gift of song. BIC. (My Band.)
